The Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices, situated across from the Old Capitol, offer visitors yet anther view of Abraham Lincoln. Here one is able to envision the beginnings of Lincoln’s successful law career and learn about the courtrooms where he tried cases.

Abraham Lincoln practiced briefly here with Stephen T. Logan before becoming law partners with William Herndon. Lincoln maintained offices here from 1843 to about 1852.

Other lawyers had offices here, including some of Lincoln’s closest friends.  Also in this building was Illinois’ federal courtroom and Springfield’s post office.
