A Greenback for a
Great Cause
Be Inspired. Be Generous.
Abraham Lincoln has been inspiring legal professionals in Illinois
for more than 150 years. His wit, work ethic, and respect for the
rule of law left an indelible mark on the legal profession and on
the nation.
Now you can leave your mark, too, with a donation to the endowment
fund to restore and preserve the law office where Lincoln prepared
cases, talked legal strategy, and launched a career in national
politics.
As the nation prepares for the Lincoln Bicentennial in 2009,
A Greenback for a Great Cause invites
legal professionals to help start a history education endowment that
will help preserve the history of Lincoln's legal career for future
generations.
The Lincoln Law Office Restoration Project will:
-
Recapture
Lincoln’s world in the 1840’s—bringing visitors face-to-face
with Lincoln’s clients and neighbors.
-
Reflect Lincoln’s place in the
legal profession and among his colleagues.
-
Restore his law office, a
dry-goods store, federal courtroom, and post office.
-
Recreate an immersive historical
experience.
