10:00AM to 4:00PM Amazing Grace: A Day of Spirituals
Local choirs perform spirituals throughout the day at the Old State Capitol and combine for final performance at Lincoln’s Tomb.

February 9
10:00AM to 2:00PM First Day Issue of Lincoln Bicentennial Stamps. The Postmaster General of the United States will be among the dignitaries present in the Old State Capitol for the first day issue and cancellations of the four stamps issued to honor the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth.

February 12

9:00AM Lincoln Roundtable Discussion
Lincoln authors discuss Lincoln’s legacy in Representatives Hall.

9:00AM to 4:00PM  Lincoln Stamps
Lincoln bicentennial stamps sold and cancelled at the Old State Capitol.

3:00PM Naturalization Ceremony
The swearing in of new citizens takes place in Representatives Hall.

5:00PM to 8:00PM Open House
Old State Capitol open to the public.

April 22
Holocaust Remembrance
Ceremony commemorates the 6,000,000 lives lost to the Holocaust.

May 12
10:00AM to 2:00PM Iles Program
Fifth grade students from Iles School in Springfield, Illinois perform skits depicting life in the 1800s.

June 5, 6 and 7
10:00AM on the 5th to 1:00PM on the 7th Civil War Encampment
Encampment will begin with children’s day on the 5th and be followed with Civil War re-enactors, authors, collectors and medical historians discussing and demonstrating life of both soldiers and civilians during the war.  There will be a focus on medical pracitices. Sponsored by Memorial Health Systems.
